Guyana Used Vehicles Import Regulation

Guyana has amended import regulation of used vehicles. As a result it became easier and therefore cheaper to import a used vehicle.

The Guyana local government has amended the restriction on importation of used vehicles and tires.

As a result used vehicles with Right Hand Drive steering wheels especially imported from Japan will be boosted. Any used vehicles over 8 years old can be imported without the need to make it fitted with brand new tires.

Private vehicles, commercial vehicles, pick-ups, and buses can be imported into the port of Georgetown (Shipping code GEO) more easily.

Same applies to used tires, it is now possible to import used tires into Guyana.

Numbers of imported used vehicles from Japan are expected to grow and see the emergence of Guyana used car dealers and importers as it will create a local market.

This is an excellent news for the people of Guyana as used vehicles will become more affordable due to the possibility to buy vehicles older than 8 years old.

Guyana is importing used vehicles mainly form Japan including the Toyota and Nissan economical Hybrid vehicles. Toyota Prius and Aqua, Nissan Note and March are populars.

As of June 2019 it has been officially announced the Custom and Excise Department of Saint-Vincent &the Grenadines have placed a ban on motor vehicles twelve (12) years old and older form the date of manufacture.

Any vehicle found to exceed the prescribed limit of twelve years old from date of MANUFACTURE shall not be permitted to land.
Vehicles have to be Right Hand Drive (RHD).
