In 2018 an astonishing 77,267 used vehicles were exported from Japan to Kenya, placing the country as the 6th bigger importer of used Japanese vehicles.

Right Hand Drive (RHD) Only allowed.
Older than 7 years old vehicles cannot be imported.

Ban on import of 12 years and older vehicles in Saint-Vincent and the Grenadines.

Used cars Import regulation for Saint-Vincent & the Grenadines

As of June 2019 it has been officially announced the Custom and Excise Department of Saint-Vincent &the Grenadines have placed a ban on motor vehicles twelve (12) years old and older form the date of manufacture.

Any vehicle found to exceed the prescribed limit of twelve years old from date of MANUFACTURE shall not be permitted to land.
Vehicles have to be Right Hand Drive (RHD).

Saint Vincent and the Grenadines is a densely populated country for its size (over 300 inhabitants/km2) with approximately 109,643 inhabitants.
Import of vehicles is an important activity in the area.

Used vehicles exports from Japan in March 2019 are down

Report of the March 2019 export of used vehicles from Japan

The official number of used vehicles exported from Japan in March 2019 is 116,939 units which represent a 4.4% drop Vs March 2018.
However, March 2019 exported units are representing the third month increase in a row according to Japan Ministry of Finance’s Trade Statistics.

The sharpest drop are from Sri Lanka, South Africa, Uganda and Pakistan.

The biggest Japanese used cars importer country for the month is Dubai (U.A.E.) with 16,296 units, a 43.3% increase compared to March 2018.
The average price is 263,261 yen FOB per unit.

New Zealand is the second biggest importer with 10,741 units imported with an average price of 437,350 Yen per unit.
It is a 10.4% drop compared with arch 2018.

Third biggest importer is Russia with 10,741 units representing a 3.2% drop Vs March 2018.
Average price per unit is 584,809 Yen FOB.

Chile is fourth with 8,993 units at an average price of 217,415 yen FOB.

Kenya imports rose by 20.5% with 7,148 units at 693,803 yen FOB average price.

Mongolia is sixth with 5,248 units at 392,203 yen fob average.
This is a 32.6% increase compared with March 2018.

Tanzania imported 4,756 units at an average price of 335,456 yen FOB.

Worth mentioning, among the top 30 importing countries big increase of imports have been recorded for Jamaica (+58.5%), Congo Democratic Republic (+250.5%), Georgia (+197.1%), Thailand (+153.6%), Nigeria (+147.6%) and Malta (+116.5%).

In contrast Sri Lanka, South Africa, Myanmar and New Zealand are the biggest decreasing importing countries.
Pakistan imports dropped from 4,690 units in March 2018 down to only 341 units in March 2019 and moved out of the top 30 importing nation of Japanese used vehicles as a result.

For the first quarter of 2019 a total of 299,255 units were exported from Japan, this is a 1.3% drop compared to 2018 1st quarter.

Uganda Roadworthy Inspection for Used vehicles for Republic of Uganda.

As the regulation changes often and it is difficult to stay up to date.
This latest change is official and in place as of 11th of March 2019.

All used vehicles exporting for Uganda require an EAA (this is the name of the officially appointed and accredited inspection company) Certificate of Conformity (COC) to comply with import regulations on arrival in Uganda.
